As Humans, There’s So Much We Can Learn From Death!

“There’s life because there’s death so does death give meaning to life.”

My young twin sister Faudhat, texted me this morning and asked me “Sister, you are not going to post Magufuli? (Our late President)?

I clearly understand why she asked that as it seems like a norm when someone dies what we truly need to do in this world of social media is to just poke and post their pictures on every social media that we have and say words like ‘Too sad you are gone or RIP or anything related to that” with a bunch of emojis escorts.

But how does that feel? Or what does that support to mean? Maybe it’s a new way of honoring others and if it seems you didn’t post it or say anything then you aren’t supportive… that’s surprising. (Btw, anyone deserves to be different right, included you) don’t catch me wrong!

Well, we shouldn’t go that further, but on my side, I normally take time and see what I can learn in any uncertain moment like this. I understand also it’s never easy finding the right message to convey any emotions when a person loses their loved ones. This is how it is to our country now.

Not sure if we all have the same intention but what I know for sure is that humans are somehow creative liars. However, I don’t want to focus and explain what it truly means to say that humans are creative liars.

The life that we are living now, there’s no guarantee if we will see tomorrow or not but life is as it is and death is also here to remind us we do not belong here – indeed, and nothing lasts forever. That’s why I believe that there’s life because there’s death so does death give meaning to life.

Death really gives life meaning. I can’t imagine how the world will turn out to be if we do still have our ancestors. Precisely, let’s leave life as how it is – swipe that perception for a moment and try to learn something from death!

  • Death is here to remind us this world isn’t our home. We are in the journey of fulfilling something, once we are done with it, we will surely go.
  • Death reminds us, it doesn’t matter how we look, our reputations, or how much wealth we accumulate, in the end, we will disappear without any of those. (And that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t collect any – just don’t be attached to what you have collected.)
  • Death is here to remind us that, we are here as souls, but it’s truly noble to keep taking care of our bodies as it’s the only place that our soul lives. Right food, a good environment, and mindfulness activities may sometimes be right for us.
  • Death is here to remind that we have to be ourselves. And that pays off. It doesn’t matter how people choose to see or perceive you – in the end, they will appreciate and honor what you have done or accomplished. Either you live your true or the lie. Always people will remember you of your goodness. So keep being yourself.

I also find this beautiful paragraph from Michael A. Singer, who once commented that in his book – The Untethered Soul,

“It is truly a great cosmic paradox that one of the best teachers in all of life turns out to be death.

No person or situation could ever teach you as much as death has to teach you. While someone could tell you that you are not your body, death shows you.

While someone could remind you of the the insignificance of the things that you cling to, death takes them all away in a second.

While people can teach you that men and women of all races are equal and that there is no difference between the rich and the poor, death instantly makes us all the same.

The question is, are you going to wait until that last moment to let death be your teacher?”

– Michael A. Singer, Untethered Soul.

But heeeeey, we are all humans right? President Maguful was also a human. Did you know what does it take to be a human? Let’s not forget that.

Dear President Magufuli, you are gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We celebrate your life. 🧡

In the end, death is just here to remind all of us who we truly are. That we are not our body neither what others say nor what we do.

We are the soul in a journey. Let’scelebrae each other’s journey.

P.S: I am writing this, in consideration of what is happening in my Country!
