Your Biggest Enemy
The biggest enemy you have to deal with is YOURSELF!
There is an African proverb that reads,
“If there is no an enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm”
We have been passing through a lot but what distinguishes someone who grows through those challenges and those who don’t is what they have inside them.
As humans, I also do understand that we are too good at blaming others while forgetting the process of getting back to ourselves and examine what went wrong inside us and be able to change that.
Sometimes I understand it’s human madness to not take responsibility for who they are but I have learned that if someone lacks self-responsibility, they will always find an excuse when doing something or facing uncertainty in life.
When a person lacks self-responsibility, he/she will always find an excuse when confronting a challenge or uncertainty in life.
Things like I can’t do it, I don’t have enough education. My father was the same, I can’t help myself. I don’t have enough time. It’s too early or it’s too late. I don’t have enough money — always runs the mind of the person who loves excuses over responsibility. Trace it!
FYI, those things do not emerge from no-where but they all come from how you (we) used to perform different self — activities and build a habit around it. And those are your biggest enemies you have to deal with before blaming anyone else.
Enemy 1: Indecision
What kind of decision were you supposed to do but until now you just keep procrastinating? Go and make that decision. It's better to get it wrong rather than doing nothing. Even if it happens you get it wrong, you will learn, get experience and you will do better next time.
Enemy 2: Your Personal Philosophy & Beliefs
Your personal philosophy and beliefs make you view the world in a way that may either encourages you or discourages you, empower, or disempower you. It is your beliefs that decide what is possible for you or what isn’t. Cross-check what kind of personal philosophy and belief that you do have and once you found them doesn't serve you, don’t be afraid to let go of them.
Enemy 3: Your Mindset
If it’s a positive-minded or negative one. The positive mind gives you a glimpse to move forward; a negative mind drags down your creativity especially in your personal growth. You know which one to carry away, just be the master guide.
Enemy 4: Your Negative Thoughts
Negative thoughts give you a negative attitude that causes you to see the world in a destructive way. You will never grow if holding negative thoughts. Learn to immerse yourself with positive thoughts from within, you will surely save yourself.
Are you aware of your enemy now? This is a clear truth that you (we) have to deal with (ourselves) yourself and not the other person — just you alone.
Another way, instead of focusing on the general view, we should sometimes learn to view things in a personal view. An eye that can see far and discover what we have within us and be able to fight that battle inside us. If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm.
“You have no greater friend and no greater enemy than yourself” — Paramahansa Yogananda
